Description
Stone Town is a lively place where you’ll find a mixture of Arabic, African, Indian, and European cultures living harmoniously. As you walk the labyrinth of streets too narrow for cars to pass, you’ll see mosques, churches, and temples side-by-side. On this tour of the city, your guide will take you on a historical and cultural journey, from the old slave market to Darajani marketplace, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace. Stop for lunch in a restaurant or local home (if arranged beforehand). While this tour is only half a day, we recommend staying in Stone Town for at least two days to discover its many other magnificent wonders. Forodhani Gardens is definitely worth a visit, especially at night when it comes alive as one of the best street food markets in East Africa Next, Dhow cruising has become very popular in Zanzibar as this cruise offers you a different view of Stone Town. From this angle you will be able to imagine how the early sailors felt when they approached Zanzibar under the serenity of sails and the gentle breeze. After you step onto the local traditional dhow sailing boat, the skilled crew on board take the dhow about 1km away from the shore by means of an engine, once out in the sea the engine is shut off and during a tense moment the skillful crew sets up the sail, once the sail is in favor of the wind, the guest can sit back, relax and enjoy the peace of the ocean as you hear the ripple of water on the sides of the dhow as it glides swiftly through the water The sound of the hustle of busy people in Stone Town grows faint in the distance, until they seem to be only in a memory. As the dhow sails you will be soft drinks & drinking water as well as some Zanzibari snacks. Sink back into the dhow’s seating and enjoy the romance of Africa while the sun sets with its beautiful orange and red colors. @zanturtleexploretour@gmail.comIncludes
