Located 25km south of Dar es Salaam, Ras Kutani lies along the undisturbed shores of the Indian Ocean and a quiet freshwater lagoon, the scene for an idyllic barefoot hideaway.
Accommodation varies, with nine beach cottages which are dispersed on either side of the main building, each offering ocean views and gentle breezes. Four secluded suites are perched on the hillside, each offering definitive privacy, splash pools and panoramic ocean views. For the family holiday, the family house with two ensuite rooms, linked by an expansive terrace with built in seating is situated above the main camp, also offering blissful ocean views.
The main camp area, constructed from locally sustainable natural materials, houses the bar, an open air lounge scattered with comfortable cushions and the spacious restaurant terrace. The cuisine embraces fresh, locally caught, seafood with delicately spiced flavours, and barbeques accompanied by a variety of fresh salads and delicious desserts.
The camps main emphasis is pure relaxation, where one can unwind at the swimming pool or on the deserted stretch of beach, or be pampered at the spa. Snorkeling, long beach walks, forest walks are available, and fortuante guests can catch a glimpse of baby green turtles hatching and making their way to the ocean, a seasonal event.
