Irente Biodiversity Reserve

Irente Biodiversity Reserve is a nature reserve with a difference. It incorporates both environmental conservation and sustainable organic agriculture offering accommodation for nature based tours.  Irente can now accommodate 17 people in 5 units with 4 bathrooms.

Situated in the Western Usambaras; which is part of a World Biodiversity hotspot. Irente Biodiversity Reserve is working with the following:

• Nature based tourism. People visit them for peace and quiet, walks in nature and a cultural experience.

• Biodiversity Protection. They have planted 103 different species of local indigenous trees in the biodiversity restoration program.

• Food processing and farm shop with cheese, jams, juices and rye bread.

• Organic farming, they grow rye and have milking cows.
