Description
Mikumi National Park, established in 1964, is a remarkable and diverse wildlife reserve in Tanzania. Covering 3,230 square kilometers, it's the fourth largest park in the country. Nestled amid the Uluguru, Udzungwa, and Malundwe mountains, with the Malundwe range reaching an elevation of 1,290 meters in the south. Mikumi is renowned for its abundant herds of elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, and various antelopes. Predators like lions, leopards, hyenas, and wild dogs also call it home. Tree-climbing lions are more frequently spotted here than in other popular parks. The park boasts over 400 bird species, including the black-billed bustard, secretary bird, cattle egret, and Bateleur eagle. Its unique landscape and scenic mountain views have attracted writers, photographers, and researchers. For those seeking Tanzania's incredible wildlife and natural beauty, Mikumi National Park is a must-visit. Starting from your hotel at 04:00 am, our journey takes us on a 4-hour drive to Mikumi National Park. Our knowledgeable guide will provide insights into the local culture and landscape along the way.
