Description

Embark on a 6-day trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route, the most popular path to Africa’s highest peak. Enjoy hotel transfers and accommodation in tents. Day 1: Arusha – Machame Gate (1790m) – Machame Camp (3010m) After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro National Park. While registration is completed, watch the mountain team prepare. Begin the trek through lush rainforest, home to black and white colobus monkeys. After 5-6 hours, reach Machame Camp, located above the tree line, for dinner and an overnight stay in tents. Day 2: Machame Camp (3010m) – New Shira Camp (3845m) Start early as the trail steepens, transitioning to heath and moorland. Enjoy breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s ridges before arriving at New Shira Camp by mid-afternoon. Watch the sunset illuminate Kibo’s glaciers. Day 3: New Shira Camp (3845m) – Lava Tower (4640m) – Barranco Camp (3960m) Trek 800m higher to Lava Tower, passing through afro-alpine desert. Descend into Barranco Valley, adorned with lobelia and giant senecio plants. After 6-7 hours, reach the picturesque Barranco Camp. Day 4: Barranco Camp (3960m) – Barafu Camp (4640m) Start by climbing the Barranco Wall with guidance from your team. Traverse ridges with stunning views of Kibo’s glaciers. Have lunch in Karanga Valley before a 2-3 hour ascent to Barafu Camp. Rest early in preparation for the summit push. Day 5: Barafu Camp (4640m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Mweka Camp (3080m) Begin at midnight, trekking by torchlight up Kibo’s scree slopes. Reach Stella Point (5730m) after 5-7 hours, then ascend another 1-2 hours to Uhuru Peak. Witness a breathtaking sunrise at the “Roof of Africa.” Descend to Barafu Camp for a meal and rest, then continue to Mweka Camp. Day 6: Mweka Camp (3080m) – Mweka Gate (1630m) – Arusha After breakfast, enjoy a farewell ceremony before a gentle 2-3 hour descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. A driver will transfer you to Arusha. Relax at the lodge, celebrating your achievement.

  • Climbs depart every Friday, except in April and May due to the rainy season. Acclimatization days can be added upon request.
