Description
1.Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park
As Zanzibar's only national park, this is the anchor of the southern route. Visitors take a guided walk through the lush groundwater forest to see the Zanzibar Red Colobus monkey—an endangered species endemic to the island. The trail usually wraps up with a stroll along a wooden boardwalk suspended over a beautiful mangrove ecosystem
3.Salam cave swim with turtles
Discover the magic of Salaam Cave in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar. This natural limestone sanctuary features a tranquil subterranean pool of crystal-clear turquoise water. The absolute highlight is the rare opportunity to swim alongside friendly sea turtles in their natural habitat while supporting local marine conservation. It’s an immersive, eco-friendly adventure perfect for nature lovers.
4.Mtende Beach & The Rugged Coast To get lunch
Further south, the landscape becomes remarkably dramatic. Mtende Beach is a major highlight here, known for its massive, weathered coral cliffs, turquoise water channels, and iconic wooden piers built over the rocks. It is a striking contrast to the flat sand expanses found elsewhere on the island and offers some of the best views in the region.
5.The Rock Restaurant To watch the view
Perched on a coral outcrop in the Indian Ocean, Zanzibar's iconic Rock Restaurant offers a surreal view of turquoise waters. It’s perfect for a beach walk: at low tide, you can stroll right across the soft sand to its steps, while high tide transforms it into a floating oasis. Come for the breathtaking panoramic views, coastal breeze, and unforgettable photos along the pristine shoreline.
6.Kae funk beach
Kae Funk in Michamvi is Zanzibar’s ultimate boho-chic sunset spot. Accessible via a mangrove boardwalk, this beach bar offers front-row seats to incredible ocean sunsets. Sink into cozy beanbags or wooden swings, sip cocktails, and enjoy a vibrant mix of reggae and Afrobeat. As night falls, the energy turns up with lively bonfires, barefoot dancing in the sand, and acrobatic performances.
