Description

This is a walking tour in a small town where history appears to stand still. Stone Town was so named because all its buildings were built from coral and limestone, and it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the House of Wonders, the former slave market site, the Sultan's Palace Museum, Forodhani Park and its night food market, Jaws Corner at the heart of town, Zanzibar's carved doors, Darajani Market, the Persian Baths Museum, the Portuguese Fort, Anglican and Catholic churches, countless mosques, and a few Hindu temples. Lastly, see the house of Freddie Mercury from Queen. This is a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. The buildings' architectural styles reflect a mixture of African, Arabic, Indian, Portuguese, British, and French influences and cultures. Enjoy a guided walk with knowledgeable tour guides who know both funny and cruel stories about life in Stone Town in the old days. During the tour, the tour guide will show you the best shops where you can buy original souvenir, jewellery as well as fresh spices from Zanzibar.
