Description

Take on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, on this 6-day Marangu Route trek. Known as the 'Coca-Cola Route,' Marangu is the only route on Kilimanjaro that offers overnight stays in mountain huts, providing more comfort than camping while taking you through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and glacial landscapes. This 6-day itinerary includes an additional acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, helping your body adjust to the altitude and increasing your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Throughout the trek, you'll be accompanied by experienced, licensed mountain guides who prioritize your safety with daily health checks and emergency equipment. Itinerary Day 1: Moshi – Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut After hotel pickup, drive to Marangu Gate for registration. Begin your hike through lush rainforest, home to colorful birds and colobus monkeys, before reaching Mandara Hut. Hiking: 4–5 hours Elevation: 1,860 m to 2,700 m Day 2: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut Leave the forest behind and hike across open moorland with spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak. Arrive at Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight. Hiking: 6–8 hours Elevation: 2,700 m to 3,720 m Day 3: Acclimatization Day Take a short hike toward Zebra Rocks before returning to Horombo Hut to rest. This extra day helps improve acclimatization and increases the likelihood of a successful summit. Hiking: 2–3 hours Overnight: Horombo Hut Day 4: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut Cross the alpine desert to Kibo Hut, the final stop before the summit attempt. Rest, enjoy an early dinner, and prepare for a midnight departure. Hiking: 5–6 hours Elevation: 3,720 m to 4,700 m Day 5: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut Begin your summit climb around midnight. Reach Gilman's Point, continue to Stella Point, and finally stand on Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating and taking photos, descend to Horombo Hut for overnight. Hiking: 10–15 hours Elevation: 4,700 m to 5,895 m to 3,720 m Day 6: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Moshi Descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, receive your summit certificate, and return to your hotel in Moshi.
