Description
Begin your journey in Stone Town, the cultural heart of Zanzibar. With a local guide, walk through narrow winding alleys and lively markets as you uncover the island’s multicultural past. Visit the House of Wonders, Old Fort, and the Anglican Cathedral, built on the site of the former slave market.
Pass by ornate Zanzibari doors, local spice shops, and historic squares as you hear stories of sultans, merchants, and explorers who shaped Zanzibar’s identity.
After the walking tour, head to the shore and board a traditional wooden boat for a short sail to Prison Island (also known as Changuu Island). Originally used as a place for rebellious slaves and later as a quarantine station, today the island is famous for its giant Aldabra tortoises, some over 150 years old.
