Meet your guide in the lobby of the Golden Tulip City Centre and begin your walk toward the city’s historic core. Hear the story of the Askari soldiers, German and British colonial history, and how Dar es Salaam evolved from a small Swahili fishing settlement to a metropolitan city.
Visit the Azania Front Lutheran Church, built in 1898. Continue to St. Joseph’s Cathedral, a beautiful Gothic-style cathedral built by French missionaries, perfect for photos and history.
Next, see the Old Boma, one of Dar’s oldest surviving buildings, built by Sultan Majid of Zanzibar. Your guide explains its role during German rule and early African administration.
