Begin your experience with a pickup from your hotel near Arusha city center. Head to a local central food market, where you’ll immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere and discover the fresh ingredients that make up Tanzanian cuisine.
Spend 30-50 minutes exploring the market, taking photos, and interacting with local vendors. See a variety of ingredients, including dry foods, meats, fruits, and more.
Next, head to a cooking class session that lasts 1-3 hours. Join an experienced local chef who will guide you step by step in preparing a full plate of traditional Tanzanian dishes. Cook 3 common foods: plantain banana, chapati, ugali, and vegetables. For those who enjoy meat, there’s an option for stewed or barbecued dishes.
After cooking, sit down and enjoy the meal you’ve prepared. If there’s time and food remaining, pack some to take back to your hotel for another meal. Finally, return to your hotel, concluding your authentic Tanzanian culinary experience.
