Description

Day 1 Start your journey with a scenic drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park. Check in to your charming cottage at Camp Lilac Mikumi and unwind in this peaceful setting. Spend your evening exploring the gardens or relaxing with a freshly prepared dinner at the camp's cozy restaurant. Day 2 After an early breakfast, head into Mikumi National Park for a full-day game drive. Explore the famous Mkata floodplain, home to elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, buffaloes, and wildebeest. The landscape resembles a miniature Serengeti and offers excellent photographic opportunities. Stop for a picnic lunch in the park, then continue wildlife viewing into the afternoon. Return to camp to relax and enjoy your dinner. Day 3 After breakfast, drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park for a guided hike to Sanje Waterfall. Nicknamed the 'Galápagos of Africa,' Udzungwa is rich in endemic plant and animal species. Hike through tropical rainforest trails filled with butterflies, rare primates like the Iringa red colobus, and colorful birds. The highlight is reaching the majestic Sanje Waterfall, cascading 170 meters down the escarpment. Swim in the natural pools and enjoy a packed lunch before descending. Return to your camp surrounded by forest. Day 4 After breakfast, depart Mikumi and journey south toward Nyerere National Park, enjoying views of rural landscapes and wildlife along the way. Arrive in the afternoon at Selous Safari Lodge, located near the Rufiji River. Settle in and enjoy a relaxing evening as you prepare for the game drives ahead. Day 5 Spend the entire day exploring Nyerere National Park, Africa’s largest wildlife reserve. Your guide will take you across vast savannahs, riverine forests, and the Rufiji River floodplains in search of lions, elephants, wild dogs, hippos, crocodiles, and a wide variety of birds. Stop for a scenic picnic lunch before continuing your wildlife exploration. Return to the lodge in the evening. Day 6 After breakfast, enjoy a second game drive through different areas of the park to spot species you may have missed earlier. In the late afternoon, embark on an evening game drive, perfect for catching nocturnal animals beginning their nightly routines. Watch the landscape change colors as the sun sets over the wilderness. Day 7 Start your morning with a 2-hour walking safari, led by an experienced ranger. Learn about animal tracks, bird calls, and the smaller wonders of the bush. After breakfast, pack up and begin your return journey to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening depending on road conditions.
