Description

Embark on a 5-day safari tour of the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. Witness the Great Migration of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles as they move through the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystems in search of green pasture. Day 1: Zanzibar to Kogatande Airstrip Arrive at Kogatende Airstrip, where your professional driver guide will warmly welcome you. Experience a full day of game drives in the Kogatende and Bologonja areas, focusing on the Great Migration. According to a recent update, the Great Migration has arrived in the Kogatende area of the Northern Serengeti and is getting ready for the epic crossing over the Masai River. Day 2: Northern Serengeti National Park After an early breakfast, embark on a game drive. The Northern Serengeti offers a chance to escape the crowds. This region of the park is remote and relatively inaccessible, which means it sees fewer visitors. Travellers who make it to this corner of the Serengeti will be rewarded with gorgeous landscapes. The 800-kilometer trek of the immense wildebeest herd is the largest mammal migration on earth. The timing of the migration coincides with the greening of nutritious grasses on the short-grass plains during the wet season. These areas are safer because predators can be easily spotted making it an ideal place for calving. However, the plains dry and the wildebeest are forced to move in search of greener pastures in the western corridor. The northern extension of the ecosystem has the highest rainfall, but the grasses are the least nutritious. Day 3: Northern Serengeti National Park After breakfast, embark on a full day game drive searching for the migration crossing Mara River in Northern Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti National Park is home to a variety of wildlife species including the big 5 such as elephants, lions, rhinos, buffalos, and leopards. Day 4: Central Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Early morning game drive towards the Central Serengeti for game drive. The great migration is supposed to be in this area from late July to mid-October crossing the famous Mara River to Maasai Mara reserve in Kenya and back to Serengeti. Journey from the wide-open plains to the kopjes: these volcanic rocky outcrops provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals and from the top you can look out across the vast grasslands. After the game drive, you will be transferred to Farm of Dream Lodge in Karatu for 3 to 4 hours. Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Airport After breakfast, find your driver guide ready to pick you up and start your safari. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo). It is important to note that giraffes are not found inside the crater, as the steep walls of the crater form a natural barrier for them. After the game drive, you will be transferred to Arusha Airport for the flight to Zanzibar.
