Description
Jozani Forest (Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park)
Jozani Forest is Zanzibar’s only national park and its largest remaining natural forest. It is best known as the home of the rare and endemic Zanzibar red colobus monkey. The forest features diverse ecosystems, including tropical forest, mangrove swamps, and grasslands. Visitors can enjoy guided nature walks along wooden boardwalks, observe wildlife, and learn about conservation efforts. Jozani Forest is a key eco-tourism destination and plays a vital role in protecting Zanzibar’s biodiversity.
The journey Continue south to Kuza Cave in Jambiani, a site steeped in natural beauty and cultural heritage. As you step into the tropical gardens that surround the cave, the atmosphere changes colorful flowers bloom beside winding paths, and the sound of traditional drums sometimes drifts from the on-site cultural center.
Kuza Cave itself is a limestone cavern with a crystal-clear natural pool at its base. The turquoise water, illuminated by shafts of sunlight streaming through the cave entrance, looks almost unreal. You can dip your feet or take a refreshing swim in this mineral-rich water, said to have healing properties. The stone walls are adorned with ancient rock formations, and your guide may share stories of how the cave has been used by locals for centuries for spiritual gatherings and rituals.
