Description

Begin your adventure with a visit to Changuu Island, where you’ll encounter the island’s famous giant tortoises. Brought from Seychelles by Sultan Said Majid in the 1820s, these majestic creatures weigh an average of 200 kg, with some over 100 years old. You can even feed them for an additional fee, but be cautious of their snapping beaks. Next, explore the island’s rich marine life with a snorkeling session. While not the most extensive snorkeling spot off Zanzibar’s coast, its proximity to Stone Town makes it ideal for a quick underwater adventure. Afterward, enjoy a meal at Matthews, the island’s renowned restaurant, known for its charming atmosphere and stunning sea views. Return to Stone Town and embark on a guided walking tour. Discover the city’s vibrant blend of Arabic, African, Indian, and European cultures. Visit historical landmarks, bustling markets, and learn about the town’s complex history, including its connections to the historic trade routes and the legacy of slavery. In the evening, set sail on a romantic sunset dhow cruise. Admire Stone Town’s architectural marvels, including the House of Wonders and the Old Dispensary, as they’re bathed in the warm glow of twilight. Enjoy snacks and soft drinks on board as you watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean. Conclude your day with a visit to the Forodhani Night Market. As the sun sets, the market transforms into a bustling hub of culinary delights. Choose from an impressive selection of freshly caught seafood, including fish, prawns, lobsters, calamari, and octopus, all grilled to perfection. Try the famous “Zanzibar Pizza,” a unique local delicacy, or indulge in mishkaki, urojo, samosas, and sweet treats like mandazi and sugar cane juice. End of the tour.
