Experience the best of both worlds with a combination of mid-range accommodation outside the park and camping in the heart of the park. Explore Nyerere NP, formerly Selous GR, the largest national park in Tanzania, covering an area of 30,893 km2. Established in 1922 as a game reserve, it was gazetted as a national park in 2019 by the late president John Joseph Pombe Magufuli. The original name recognizes Englishman Sir Frederick Selous, a famous big game hunter, who died in 1917 while fighting against the Germans during the First World War. Day 1: Dar Es Salaam to Nyerere NP Morning between 07:30hrs to 09:00hrs depart for Nyerere NP, you will have a short break for lunch on the way. The journey to Nyerere will take about 5 hours. Arrive for afternoon boat safari along the mighty Great Rufiji River from 16:00 until sunset. Boat safari brings you into close contact with hippo, crocodile and fantastic birdlife. Animals make their way to the river to drink and boat may approach elephant, waterbuck and other on the river banks to within a few meters. Crocodile glide into the water as your boat approaches and hippo appear in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam. Accommodation: Nyerere Tented Camp or Similar Meals: L & D Day 2: Full day game drive - Camping in the middle of the Park You will have full day game drive In Nyerere NP exploration of the Reserve by 4wd vehicle; will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of vast park. Get wild by doing game drive and overnight in the middle of the reserve enjoying the nature with the roaring sound of lion, hippos, hyena walking around the camp at night. Overnight at Tagalala Campsite inside the park. Meals: B, L & D Day 3: Another Full day game drive in Nyerere NP Wake up early in the morning. Enjoying another beautiful morning game drive along the lake where animals are coming down to drink. Later you will drive back to the campsite for breakfast followed by game drive. Continue with game drive discovering the reserve until sunset. late afternoon you will drive to the camp for overnight. Accommodation: Nyerere Tented Camp or Similar Meals: B, L & D Day 4: Walking Safari in the Wild then drive to Dar es Salaam Wake-up early in the morning and have a cup of coffee or tea, then go out for wilderness walking safari with guidance of an armed ranger, this will take about two to two and a half hours. Walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for African wild. You will get the chance to touch the nature, see the different foot print and droppings of different wild animals and small creatures that you can’t see them during the game drive. After walking safari you will go back to the lodge for breakfast then pack your stuff and start drive back to Dar es Salaam with lunch pack. On arrival your driver will drop you off at your hotel, ferry or airport for your next destination. Meals: B & L
