Description

Get started with a warm dance welcome led by our Chagga women, then settle in with a steaming cup of tea or coffee while we share the story of our village and today’s adventures. Next, head into our open-air kitchen to chop, stir, and laugh as you learn to prepare classic Chagga dishes from farm-fresh ingredients. With appetites whetted, lace up your boots and set off on a three-hour hike through the village, chatting with locals, strolling past banana groves and coffee plots, then stepping into the cool shadows of the Ntondolo Caves and finally arriving at the rushing Nkosalulu Waterfalls. Back at base, enjoy the lunch you helped create, served family-style under the shade of jacaranda trees. Fuel up, then wander into our Chagga Museum to see authentic tools, baskets, and stories carved in wood. After absorbing our heritage, roll up your sleeves again for a hands-on coffee-roasting session, then savor the rich brew you’ve crafted. Before you go, browse the women’s gift shop, where every handmade textile and beadwork piece directly supports our artisans. We’ll send you off with a heartfelt goodbye and an open invitation to return as part of our extended Machame family.
