Day 1: Arrival and Preparation: Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you'll be warmly welcomed and transferred to your comfortable hotel in either Moshi or Arusha. This day is dedicated to a crucial pre-trek briefing, where experienced guides will provide essential information about the climb, safety protocols, and equipment. Day 2: Embarking on the Rainforest Trail: The adventure commences with a transfer to the Marangu Gate, the starting point of your Kilimanjaro ascent. Today's trek takes you through the lush, verdant rainforest, a captivating introduction to the mountain's diverse ecosystems, culminating in an overnight stay at Mandara Hut (2,700m). Day 3: Journey into the Moorlands: Leaving the rainforest behind, you'll venture into the expansive moorlands, a landscape characterized by heather and hardy vegetation. The day's trek leads to Horombo Hut (3,720m), offering stunning panoramic views. Day 4: Acclimatization for Success: This crucial acclimatization day is spent at Horombo Hut, allowing your body to adapt to the increasing altitude. An optional hike to Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Hut further enhances acclimatization, ensuring a smoother summit attempt. This day is also used for rest and preparation Day 5: Traversing the Lunar Saddle: The landscape transforms dramatically as you cross the stark, lunar-like terrain of the Saddle, a high-altitude desert between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. This challenging trek culminates in an overnight stay at Kibo Hut (4,750m), the final staging point for the summit push. Day 6: Summit Triumph and Descent: A midnight start marks the beginning of the ultimate challenge: the ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the roof of Africa. Witnessing the sunrise from the summit is a truly unforgettable experience. Following your triumph, you'll descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest. Day 7: Descent and Celebration: The final descent takes you back through the moorlands and rainforest to the Marangu Gate. A transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha allows for a celebratory evening, reflecting on your remarkable achievement. Day 8: Transition to Tropical Paradise: A flight from Kilimanjaro's airport transports you to the enchanting island of Zanzibar. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Days 9-13: Exploration and Rejuvenation: These days are dedicated to immersing yourself in the rich culture and natural beauty of Zanzibar. Explore the historic Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its labyrinthine alleyways and vibrant markets. Embark on a spice plantation tour, discovering the aromatic treasures of the island. Relax on pristine beaches, indulging in swimming, sunbathing, and water sports like snorkeling and diving. A visit to Prison island to see the giant tortoises is also a possible activity.
