Description

Begin your adventure with a flight from Dar es Salaam to Kigoma. Upon arrival, transfer to Kigoma Town and enjoy dinner at Sangara Restaurant. Spend the night in Kigoma. The next day, have breakfast at the hotel before heading to the lake for a boat ride to Gombe. Upon arrival, transfer to the camp and enjoy a hot lunch. Then, embark on a chimpanzee tracking adventure in the forest. Walk deep into the forest to observe and sit with the extraordinary primates for an entire morning. Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in Gombe Stream’s tropical forests. Vervet and colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs, and dik-diks inhabit the dense forest, and a wide variety of tropical birds can be seen. On the third day, enjoy breakfast before heading out for another day of chimpanzee tracking. Climb to Kakombe Waterfalls and keep an eye out for forest birds like the African Broadbill, various sunbirds, hornbills, and possibly even raptors like the crowned eagle soaring overhead. While the primary focus is birding, your guide will also be attentive to any chimpanzee or other primate sightings, which can add to the overall wildlife experience. On the fourth day, enjoy breakfast before heading out for another day of chimpanzee tracking. Climb to Jane Goodall’s Peak and keep an eye out for various kingfisher species, wagtails, and raptors overhead. The damp, rocky areas around the waterfalls can attract unique insect life, which in turn draws specific bird species. On the final day, have breakfast before transferring to the lake shore for a boat ride back to Kigoma. Upon arrival, transfer to Kigoma Hilltop Hotel for lunch. Then, proceed for a short sightseeing tour of Kigoma and Ujiji Town before transferring to the airport for your scheduled flight back to Dar es Salaam.
