Some 350 bird species have been recorded in the Selous Game Reserve. These are typical of miombo wood lands, and the birdlife supported by Rufiji swamp lands is of particular interest. The reserve gets its name from the hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous. He was killed here during World War1. Selous is famous for elephants. Other species commonly seen are lions, wilddogs, buffaloes, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras and greater kudus. The park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffe’s buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal. More than 300 species of birds have been recorded here including Eurasian migrants such as red billed oxpecker, marabou stork and lilac breasted roller. Dinner and overnight at Camp Bastian Mikumi. Day5:Game Drive and Masai Cultural Tour. After breakfast, We will go for A half day game drive in Mikumi National Park. Lunch at the Picnic site in Mikumi.
