Explore the unspoiled wilderness of southern Tanzania on this 5-day safari. From the riverine landscapes of Nyerere National Park, home to hippos, crocodiles, and large elephant herds, to the open savannahs of Mikumi National Park, this adventure offers diverse wildlife experiences in two of Tanzania’s most captivating parks. Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam/Arusha → Nyerere National Park Arrive at Dar es Salaam or Arusha and transfer to Nyerere National Park. Settle into your lodge or tented camp and enjoy your first views of the lush surroundings. Overnight near Nyerere National Park. Day 2: River Safari in Nyerere National Park Embark on a river boat safari, exploring waterways teeming with wildlife. Spot hippos, crocodiles, elephants drinking at the banks, and a variety of birds. Take an afternoon game drive through the park’s woodland and savannah areas. Enjoy dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp. Day 3: Nyerere → Mikumi National Park Drive to Mikumi National Park, the “little Serengeti” of southern Tanzania. Enjoy an afternoon game drive across the open plains, observing elephants, giraffes, zebras, and predators. Overnight at a lodge or camp in Mikumi. Day 4: Full-Day Game Drive in Mikumi Spend the entire day exploring Mikumi’s diverse habitats, from savannah plains to riverine forests. Look out for lions, leopards, and large herds of herbivores. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 5: Mikumi → Dar es Salaam/Arusha/Departure Enjoy an early morning game drive before transferring back to Dar es Salaam or Arusha for your onward flight or hotel drop-off, concluding your southern safari adventure.
