Description

Embark on a 7-day trekking tour of Mount Kilimanjaro's Lemosho Route. Start from Arusha and enjoy a 2-day hotel stay before setting off on your adventure. Trek through lush rainforest, heath, and moorland, and traverse alpine desert and the scenic Barranco Valley. Day 1: Arusha – Lemosho Gate (2385m) – Big Tree Camp (2780m) Begin your trek through lush rainforest after registration at Lemosho Gate. Hike a moderately steep path to Big Tree Camp. (2-3 hours) Day 2: Big Tree Camp (2780m) – Shira Camp 2 (3900m) Ascend through thinning forest into heath and moorland. Cross Shira Ridge, stop at Shira Camp 1 for lunch, then continue to Shira Camp 2, passing giant senecios. (7-8 hours) Day 3: Shira Camp 2 (3900m) – Lava Tower (4640m) – Barranco Camp (3960m) Climb to 4640m at Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp to aid acclimatization. Traverse alpine desert and the scenic Barranco Valley. (6-7 hours) Day 4: Barranco Camp (3960m) – Karanga Camp (4035m) Climb the steep Barranco Wall with guide assistance. Walk along the ridge with views of Kibo’s glaciers before reaching Karanga Camp. (3-4 hours) Day 5: Karanga Camp (4035m) – Barafu Camp (4640m) Trek through alpine desert to Barafu Camp. Rest in preparation for summit night. (3-4 hours) Day 6: Barafu Camp (4640m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) – Mweka Camp (3080m) Start at midnight, ascending via Stella Point to Uhuru Peak for sunrise. Descend back to Barafu Camp for a meal and rest, then continue to Mweka Camp. (10-14 hours) Day 7: Mweka Camp (3080m) – Mweka Gate (1630m) – Arusha A final descent through the rainforest leads to Mweka Gate, where a driver awaits to take you back to Arusha. Celebrate your achievement. (2-3 hours)

Weather conditions on Kilimanjaro can change rapidly; prepare for cold nights and possible rain. Altitude sickness can affect anyone, regardless of fitness level. Listen to your body and your guide. A pre-trek briefing will be held in Arusha to go over the itinerary and answer any questions. Tipping your guide and porters is customary and greatly appreciated.
