7-Days Tanzania Southern Circuit and Zanzibar Relaxation Safari The safari journey begins from Dar-el-salaam taking you to Tanzania’s iconic park of the gigantic Selous Game Reserve, and enormous Mikumi national parks, and seal the safari on the incredible white sandy beaches of Zanzibar. The safari will offer you a thrilling game drive to Mikumi and Selous national parks sightseeing the outstanding natural beauty and wildlife such as big five like tree-climbing lions, elephants roaming in the plains, leopards and other animals as well as fascinating birds. The safari will also take you through the captivating jungle Jozan forest for primate tracking, spice farms, majestic Dolphin tours, and Zanzibar palm-dotted and white sandy beach relaxation that will give you a once-in-a-lifetime Africa safari experience. Summary Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Mikumi Day 2: Full-day Mikumi Day 3: Transfer to Selous Day 4: Full day in Selous game reserve Day 5: Transfer to Zanzibar Day 6: Full-day Zanzibar Day 7: Dolphin tour and transfer to the airport. Detailed Itinerary. Day 1: Arrival at the airport and transfer to Mikumi National Park. Karibu Tanzania, meaning “welcome to Tanzania”. On arrival at the Airport, the driver guide will pick you up and brief you about the itinerary and thereafter commence your journey to Mikumi National Park. On arrival at the park early afternoon, you will embark on a hike to the ulunguru mountains which gives you scenery views of the wild animals like elephants, lions, antelopes, and giraffes wandering in the grassy plains, The hike also leads to Kinole waterfalls which give fascinating views of animals, spectacular cascades of water and ideal place for swimming and picnics that will create a memorable safari experience. Late at 7:30 pm, you will go on a 2hour captivating night game drive that will give you a chance to discover the national park at night time to see nocturnal animals like lions, leopards, and hyenas prowling, and observe hippos munching as well as admire the stars. After the night game drive, you will check in at the lodge for dinner and stay over. Day 2: Early morning game drive in Mikumi National Park. After taking your delicious breakfast in the morning, you will embark on an idyll early morning game drive that will give you a glimpse of the sunrise, listening to the melody sounds of birds as well as watching the nocturnes go back to the shelter for resting after a long night of hunting as other animals like buffaloes, zebras, eland, giraffes go out busy and actively grazing. After the morning game drive, you will have lunch and, a recap of the activities done on the itinerary as we prepare for community visits and cultural experiences in the evening. The cultural visit will engage you in the traditional way of life of the local people to learn more about the customs, traditions, and dress codes of the locals, and get entertainment from magnificent traditional dancers that will create everlasting moments. After the community visit, you check in at the lodge for an overnight stay. Day 3: Transfer to Selous game reserve After breakfast, you drive to Morongoro town via Kisake Village and continue to Selous Game Reserve in the late afternoon go for a launch boat cruise on river Rufigi that will give spectacular views of the hippos, crocodiles, and other animals like buffaloes, antelopes quenching thirst at the river as well as have a good time for Bird watching along the river. Then check in at the lodge for relaxation and a night stay over. Day 4: Sunrise game drive in Selous After having your breakfast, you embark on an early morning game drive that will give you majestic views of the sunrise in the savannah plains as wild animals like herbivores are actively grazing before the day gets hot. Early afternoon, you will go for lunch at the lodge and relax a bit. Then in the evening, you will have a guided nature walk in the vast wilderness with forests, grassy plains, mountains, and open woodlands that will give you a close view of the wild animals and colorful birds. Thereafter check in at the lodge for the night stay over Day 5: Transfer to Zanzibar After long journeys of wildlife viewing, you seal your safari with a Zanzibar beach holiday and relaxation. In the morning, after having your breakfast, you will have a drive through the park while viewing animals as you proceed to Zanzibar for leisure. On arriving in Zanzibar, you will have lunch, and Zanzibar is well known as the “spice island”, thus the safari takes you to the spice farms in Zanzibar, Feel the scent and taste the spice flavors like cinnamon, chilies, nutmeg, black pepper, ginger, cloves, bulls’ heart, turmeric, lemon grass and many more that will spice your experience. In the evening, you will have a walk on the streets of Stone Town which expresses the ancient culture. Wandering on the streets of the stone town and staring at the architecture that combines history, culture, and gourmet experience is worth visiting. Art galleries, souvenirs, and shining jewelry stores are around every corner, enjoying the local cuisine in the evening when local food vendors line the streets is a must-see while in Zanzibar that will shock you on your African safari. Thereafter, you will check in at the lodge. Day6: Visiting Jozan forest and Zanzibar beach relaxation After having breakfast in the morning you go for a dhow cruise to the Jozan forest, Getting lost and tracking the monkeys in the Jozani forest is so thrilling to walk on raised board nature trails leading through the beautiful mangrove forests and encountering the red colobus monkeys. Early afternoon, go visit the Prison Island Tour or Changuu Island. The captivating island allows you to escape into a magical world of peace and beauty. The island is home to giant tortoises imported from Seychelles in the 19th century, some of the tortoises are 100 years old. You can take a 30-minute long romantic and scenic boat ride from Zanzibar and spend the whole day exploring the ruins, sunbathing, swimming, etc. Then check in at the lodge for a night stay over. Day 7: Dolphin tour and transfer to the airport. The dolphin tour is usually done at Kazi mkazi because of its shallow coastal water that attracts the dolphins which usually come for food, to rest, yeah and to socialize. The dolphin tour commences early in the morning between 5:30 am to 6:00 am when the waters are calm and favor diving and swimming with friendly and stunning dolphins. Thereafter you will go for lunch and then transfer to the airport. End of the safari.
