Description

The 6 Days Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Trek is an unforgettable journey to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering some of the most breathtaking landscapes. Known as the 'Coca-Cola' route, it is popular for its gradual ascent and comfortable mountain huts. Whether you're an experienced trekker or a first-timer, this trek promises an extraordinary adventure. Here’s what you’ll experience on this incredible journey: Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut (1860m – 2700m) Your trek begins at Marangu Gate. After registration and meeting your porters, you'll trek through lush rainforests teeming with wildlife, including blue monkeys and exotic birds. The 4-5 hour hike leads you to Mandara Hut, where you'll settle in for the night. Before dinner, take a short walk to Maundi Crater for stunning views of the Kenyan plains. Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (2700m – 3700m) After breakfast, you’ll leave the rainforest and enter the moorland zone, with beautiful views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. The trail is longer but not steep, allowing you to enjoy the stunning scenery. After about 6 hours, you’ll reach Horombo Hut, where sweeping panoramic views await. This hut will be your home for two nights. Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut Acclimatization is essential for a successful summit. You’ll take a short hike to Zebra Rocks, named for their black-and-white striped appearance. This helps your body adjust to the altitude, while giving you more time to appreciate Kilimanjaro’s unique beauty. After the hike, you’ll return to Horombo Hut to rest for the next day's ascent. Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut (3700m – 4700m) Your journey continues through the alpine desert, crossing the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi. The barren landscape is surreal, with rocky paths and sparse vegetation. After passing the “Last Water Point,” you’ll ascend slowly to Kibo Hut, arriving by early afternoon. An early dinner and rest are vital as your final ascent begins at midnight. Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5895m) and back to Horombo Hut (3700m) Summit day begins in the early hours, with headlamps lighting your way as you climb. After several hours of trekking, you’ll reach Gilman’s Point (5685m) at sunrise, with awe-inspiring views of the plains below. From here, it’s a tough but rewarding final push to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point at 5895m. Reaching the summit is an achievement you’ll never forget! After celebrating and taking photos, you’ll descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue down to Horombo Hut for the night. Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate (3700m – 1860m) On the final day, you’ll descend back through the moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate. The changing scenery offers beautiful views and a chance to reflect on your accomplishment. At the gate, you’ll receive your well-earned summit certificate, marking the successful completion of your 6 Days Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Trek. You’ll then be driven back to Moshi for a well-deserved rest.
